The 6 Step Process We Use to Practically Guarantee First Page Rankings.
So, down to the meat and potatoes.
Below is the exact process I use with clients when striving for explosive traffic improvements and long-term rankings.
This process is the culmination of my time spent learning directly from industry greats – people who have created hundreds of millions for their clients, and themselves, with SEO.
It’s the same process that caused LodgeiT to go from less than 500 visits a month, to over 500 visits a week in 6 months (see more of our results below).
1. Pre-SEO Audit & Penalty Checks
All the site optimisation in the world won’t improve your website’s organic rankings if your website has a spam penalty…
So the very first thing we do before anything else is make sure there are no Google penalties, bad backlinks, or site errors in Google’s Search Console.
A Google penalty is when Google, or another search engine, decides to penalise a website’s search rankings because of poor content, spammy link behaviour etc.
We use a number of tools and techniques to get the info we need before starting a new campaign.
Google’s Search Console is absolutely essential for keeping tabs on your site’s status and search analytics.
If you have toxic links pointing to your website, you can disavow them (basically telling Google to ignore certain links) in Search Console, and if there are any penalties, errors, or malware infections, Google will let you know in Search Console.
2. On-Page Optimisation
The next step is to make sure the site isn’t holding us back from achieving the results we need.
We do this with on-page SEO.
Basically, the goal is to help Google understand what your site is about – NOT to game the system with keyword stuffing and dummy content.
For example, if you want to rank for a keyword like “SEO Perth“, you need to make sure your site has content that is valuable and relevant to the subject of SEO, and the city of Perth.
A big part of on-page optimisation is making sure the site is user-friendly, and has valuable content (Google won’t want to rank a site that doesn’t give their users value).
Search engines place a high value on sites with low bounce rates and high view times.
We also need to analyse and create a plan for the page titles, meta descriptions, and site structure (how the pages link to each other), as these are crutial elements that search engines look at.
3. Social Media
Social media is such an important part of SEO.
The reason for this, is that it shows Google that you are a real business, providing real value to your audience.
Having all of your social profiles set up, and optimised correctly to drive engagement is crucial.
The main four accounts you need are:
One of the extra strategies we use to build a huge amount of authority is to make sure your business has a profile on more than 100 different social sites, each linking back to your site.
It is also critical that you’re getting engagement on your social profiles.
You need to make sure you are posting valuable content on a daily basis.
4. Map Listings
Not only do these sites show search engines that you’re a real business and provide you with a valuable backlink, but they also help people find your business.
Think of all the people searching for local services on their phone.
Chances are they’re using either Google Maps or Apple Maps.
If anyone is using Siri to find local services, then the Apple Maps listing makes sure your business get’s shown.
Google My Business (Google Maps) also offers a comprehensive dashboard that allows you to track people who see your listing, how many “actions” you get, and your reviews.
5. Local Citations
Local citations mark the beginning of our off-page link building.
The reason we build links from other websites is to increase the authority of your site – Google sees links from other sites as votes of confidence that your site is trustworthy.
A citation is basically a reference to your business’ name, address, and phone number (known as NAP for short).
Citations allow us to increase the power of your site in local search results.
They help your site rank for local search terms such as “Lawyers in Perth” by showing Google that you are located in Perth, and that your phone number is relevant to the Perth area.
**It is absolutely CRUCIAL that your NAP is the same across all your citations because Google takes this information into account when figuring out which websites to rank for local searches.**

6. High Authority Link Building
When it comes to SEO, there are two main factors that cause a site to rank; relevence and authority.
On-page SEO takes care of some of the relevence factor.
Off-page SEO takes care of the authority, and also plays a big role in relevance, through certain elements on the sites that link to ours.
Examples of these are the site’s domain name, page title, page content, and especially the “anchor text”, the text that contains the link to your site.
On-page optimisation will get your site in the right search term results, but off-page optimisation will get your site to the first position.
This is why most people who decide to do their own SEO don’t get results – they don’t know the right strategies to build quality backlinks.
Now, in order to acquire quality, high powered links, we need to do a bit of research and outreach.
Our goal is to find either local blogs, or blogs about your niche or industry.
Then, you need to find specific posts relevant to the keyword you want to rank for, that would also benefit from referencing your site with a link.
Then what you want to do is reach out to the owner of the blog, and entice them to link back to your site.
Sometimes they are willing to do this in exchange for a link to their website, other times, you will need to offer a bit of cash to get things rolling. Don’t worry, it’s worth it.
You should be able to build 2-5 high quality links each month using this method.
There are TONS of methods to build links, but this method gives you the best bang for your buck in terms of safety, power, and relevence.
